Monitor and report on the Commissions resource usage and prepare ad-hoc management reports as required. Maintain the Commissions contract register and Senate Order reporting. Oversee the day-to-day accounting and finance functions and support other team members. Prepare the Commissions mandatory taxation reporting (e.g. Fringe Benefits Tax, GST) and perform reconciliations of accounts and other financial systems (e.g. RBANet, Central Budget Management System). Assist in providing high-level advice to line areas relating to budget and financial management, including the interpretation of the Australian Governments financial framework and contract management. Liaise with and build relationships with other Government bodies and stakeholders as required. Undertake project work on financial management issues, including assisting with financial management awareness training for internal staff. Assist with managing various facilities activities as required. SELECTION CRITERIA: Demonstrated understanding of and experience with the Australian Governments financial framework and ability to prepare financial reports and budget estimates. Experience in interpreting, understanding and practically applying legislation and policies as they relate to financial management practices. Proven ability to undertake analytical assessments, identify and communicate the results of the analysis. A demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and show initiative, including the ability to recognise opportunities for improvement in procedures through developing and implementing appropriate solutions. Good interpersonal and liaison skills in a customer service environment and demonstrated ability to work effectively as a team leader. Experience in the use of an ERP or financial management information system and Government systems. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and completion of or progress towards professional qualifications would be highly regarded.
