Leading the Commissions Disability Employment Project (the Project) including: supervising and undertaking research developing and reviewing resources for the Project, in particular for the Projects web portal project planning and procurement working with the Policy and Secretariat Officer Disability Employment Project to arrange and facilitate Employer Network meetings. Developing, maintaining and nurturing networks and liaising with identified internal and external stakeholders across a range of constituencies, communities, government agencies and organisations, in particular the members of the Projects Employer Network and Ambassador Advisory Group. Working collegiately with internal stakeholders across the Commission to achieve the strategic goals of the Commission, and in the development and delivery of key Commission priorities, particularly in relation to disability employment. Supervising staff and interns in the conduct of research, preparation of materials and other Project related work, in particular the Policy and Secretariat Officer Disability Employment Project (APS5). Attending consultative and other meetings, conferences and seminars and representing the Commission as required; including before parliamentary committees and other public inquiries and participate in the public awareness/education and promotional work of the Commission. JOB DESCRIPTION The Senior Policy Officer Disability Employment Project is responsible for the management of the Disability Employment Project, and specifically the Projects Secretariat. The Project includes the establishment of: an Employer Network, comprised of approximately ten senior leaders/CEOs from private and public sector employers an Ambassador Advisory Group, comprised of people with lived experience of disability a web portal that will host a range of resources to support the Employer Network and employers more generally at least two pilot programs designed to increase employment for people with disability The Senior Policy Officer will also work collaboratively with the Director Disability Rights in relation to the delivery of key Commission priorities, particularly in relation to disability employment more broadly. SELECTION CRITERIA A demonstrated specialist knowledge and understanding of disability, employment issues for people with disability, and human rights issues and confidence in delivering information succinctly and cogently. Candidates with lived experience of disability will be highly regarded. Highly developed communication skills including a demonstrated ability to communicate confidently, persuasively, sensitively and articulately, on matters relevant to the delivery of the Commissions identified strategic priorities both in person and in writing. Ability to manage staff and resources effectively (where required), contribute to Commission wide activities and respond flexibly to changing work demands. Demonstrated capacity for strategic thinking, political awareness, sound judgement and creative problem solving including ability to distil, consider and promote Commission wide benefits of activities.
