DISABILITY DISCRIMINATION ACT (DDA) ACTION PLAN OVERVIEW The Mill Park Community House & A.T.S.S. is an Incorporated organisation in the North East of Melbourne. It is a service which supports the general community to acquire skills and opportunities which can enhance quality of life and employment opportunities. The Mill Park Community House & A.T.S.S. is also funded by the Victorian Department of Human Services to provide Day support for Individuals with a primary Intellectual Disability. The Service employs highly trained individuals who provide the support and opportunities to the client base. This service is in its 20th year of operation and 10th year in the field of Disability Support. CLIENT INTAKE The Mill Park Community House & A.T.S.S. offers open access to the general community. The A.T.S.S. section of the organisation receives referrals via the Department of Human Services based on the North-West regions client database. 3. AIMS FOR THIS PLAN To ensure that the Mill Park Community House & A.T.S.S. complies with and fully understands the Federal Disability Discrimination Act of 1992. PLAN DEVELOPMENT The plan was developed following discussions with the Equity Research Centre, Adult Community & Further Education (ACFE) and consultation with staff. The plan was issued on 1 May 2006 and all staff of the Mill Park Community House will be issued with a copy following a presentation. In addition copies of the plan will be posted on the information boards in both centres. This plan will also be lodged with H.R.E.O.C. The Plan will be annually reviewed for relevance and modified to reflect the current need. In the event that the plan does not comply with/ or the organization receives a complaint regarding failure to meet a stated standards and/or a standard not addressed, then the Committee of Management will place the issue on the next schedule COM meeting for review. Outcomes of the meeting will be communicated to the complainant and any action undertaken will be noted in the Plan. SECTION 1 ACCESS The Mill Park Community House & A.T.S.S. is located in 2 venues Mill Park South Morang MILL PARK The venue for this section of the organisation is a local Neighborhood House. This building was originally constructed as residential site. However the organisation has made numerous modifications to the site since the service inception. Many of these modifications have been carried out in order to meet the needs of all our participants. However on occupation by the Mill Park Community House & A.T.S.S. significant modifications were undertaken.
