The ºÚÁÏÇ鱨վ made a submission to the Department of Social Services’ 2024 Review of Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021-31.

Human Rights

The CRPD represents a fundamental shift in how disability should be viewed and understood, applying universal human rights principles to State obligations to respect, protect and fulfil the specific rights of people with disability.

The submission makes the case for Australia’s Disability Strategy to be a vehicle for the implementation of the United Nations , including by being founded on a recognition of the systemic causes of inequality and discrimination. 

Recommendations

The submission makes 10 recommendations for a stronger human rights framework in the Strategy.
